Hi and welcome Inside the Studio.
I am kicking off 2021 by participating in the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop. This is my first time participating in this event and I am pretty excited about it.
What is the Quilt Block Mania Blog Hop?
Each month, a group of designers get together and create blocks around a specific theme and color palette. This month, there are 30 different designers participating. We then share the block patterns with you for FREE. It’s a great way to meet new designers, try different quilting techniques and have some fun along the way.
January – The Month of Romance
For January, the theme is Romance. The color palette includes several shades of pink plus light blue and cream. Here is a look at the colors.
Love Owl-Ways
The romance theme made me think of love birds and that developed into two owls on a tree branch. Did you know that pairs of male and female barn owls often mate for life. They also have elaborate courtship rituals such as courting flights, calls, and offerings of food. How romantic, right? Anyways, back to the quilt block.
My block is called Love Owl-Ways. This is an applique quilt block. Applique is a technique I’ve been wanting to write a pattern for and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give it a whirl. Drawing the block was a bit of a learning curve but I am having fun trying to figure it all out. The male owl is in blue and the female owl is in pink. Of course, you could easily change up the colors to create your own look. I think this will be a fun block to play around with.
You can get the pattern for Love Owl-Ways for free. Download your copy today and have fun making this quilt block.
If you make my quilt block, or any of the other participating designers blocks, be sure to tag #QuiltBlockMania on social media so we can all see the fun blocks being made.

Such a cute block! Thanks for sharing your critters with all of us.
Thank you for this block
Hello! I have been quilting for over 13 years now and just love everything about it. A few years ago, I discovered satin stitched applique and it became a favorite method for me and yet the last couple of years I have drifted away from it. It is my goal this year to renew my love of applique and discovering your adorable Owl pattern is going to be my first pattern. Thank You so much for taking the chance and trying something new that you honestly made such a brilliant achievement at that will and is already bringing smiles/happiness into the hearts of so many this new year! Great Job!!!
Cheers to you for not making it a mystery to locate a block which is offered in a Blog Hunt .
I will say though, the website address provided for the QBM said “Oops, This Page Could Not Be Found!”
Would it be easier to have the hyperlink straight to the Blog page?
After a long period of time (years),I have noticed there are a lot of people not willing to search any further than an initial location for anything, let alone something free.
Anyway, thank you for your lovely block. It is a great time to use our pinks :-)
What an adorable block! Thank you for sharing with us all!
